The benefits of intelligent PDUs are many including:
Reduced Energy Costs, Optimizing Power Capacity, Preventing Potential Issues, Remote Problem Solving.Basic_vs._Intel_PDU

PDU’s are broken down into 4 categories

Basic PDU

A basic PDU is a dependable, space-saving, cost-effective way to deliver power.

Metered PDU

A metered PDU can locally monitor load level and avoid potential overloads with a built-in digital current meter while offering reliable, rack-mount, multi-outlet, single or three-phase, power distribution from any protected UPS, generator or mains input power source.

Monitored PDU

A monitored PDU goes one step further with its ability to remotely monitor single- or three-phase voltage, frequency, and load levels in real-time via a built-in network connection. Output current consumption is displayed locally via a visual meter.

Switched PDU

If you want the ability to remotely monitor, connect or disconnect your data center loads a switched PDU provides all of these capabilities. A switched PDU can locally monitor load level and avoid potential overloads with a built-in digital current meter, as well as remotely control individual outlets for the rebooting of locked equipment.

p1The Emerson MPH2 is one of the most intelligent, high-availability line of managed rack PDUs. It offers remote monitoring and control capabilities as well as environmental input options, with multiple power input selections and output configurations, allowing data center power control to the receptacle level, as well as monitoring of the strip and environmental input options, such as rack temperature and humidity. MPH2 offers the industry’s leading operating temperatures, ensuring availability even in the harsh environment at the back of the rack.

p2Emerson MPX is the most responsive and adaptive rack PDU available. With MPX rack PDU technology, you can respond to rack equipment changes and dynamic capacities by leveraging hot-swappable modular output power, hot-swappable modular communications and modular input power.

p3The Raritan PX3 series boasts the most reliable and sophisticated rack PDUs on the market. It offers metering at the inlet, outlet, and PDU circuit breaker level. And tracks current, voltage, power, power factor, and energy usage within 1% billing-grade accuracy.

Raritan’s PX intelligent rack PDU series offers more than just power distribution — it’s a launch pad for real-time remote power monitoring, environmental sensors, data center infrastructure management, and so much more. The PX series offers hundreds of models to power all your data center applications, including models with outlet switching, individual outlet metering, high power for blade servers and high density applications, and 400V three-phase power distribution.

p4The Server Technology® PRO2 Switched POPS CDU provides control of outlet power and local LED input current monitoring, allowing IT personnel to determine safe levels of loading on a per-phase basis while installing equipment into the rack/cabinet. The integral PIPS® and POPS® technology provides billing-grade accurate measurement of current, voltage, active power, apparent power, power factor, crest factor, and accumulated energy at the input and at each output. These power data points, along with temperature and humidity measurements (provided via optional probes), are accessible through the built-in Web and CLI interfaces as well as through SNMP. The PRO2 Switched POPS “Master” CDU can be connected to as many as three PRO2 Switched POPS “Link” CDUs to extend the network access to the redundant or secondary power feed without the risks of a daisy chain linking configuration.

No DHCP, no problem: One StartUp Stick to get thousands of CDUs on your network

No scripting: Set the configuration of as many as 79 parameters at the comfort of your desk

p6Geist’s Switched Ultra PDUs, control outlet level power. Unforeseen challenges can easily be managed remotely with the click of a few buttons on a smart phone or computer. Disable problem equipment by cutting power to specific outlets, reboot equipment remotely by turning power on and off, and save time and money by avoiding sending live technicians to the site.

In addition to its switching capabilities, the ultra series has outlet level power monitoring for granular power consumption data of all equipment. Finally, a Max Group Amps (MGA)  feature offers an extra level of protection, preventing circuit overload by letting users set the threshold for maximum number of amps.  Switching units come equipped with two environmental sensor ports to track critical climate variables like temperature, air flow, humidity and dew point.

Geist designs and manufactures custom power strip requests under remarkable turnaround times.
